On the day of my graduation, one of the speaker had speech that it is extremely important to have community. It means to join good professional association(s). I remember it very well, although until now I still haven’t found the right association yet. There are a few associations on social research or development or similar to those. However, they were overseas. Many interesting associations are even not only based on interest but also restricted in specified geographic areas.
I would not be mind to join one or two of those. But, I am currently seeking for more “local” ones. Either in the regional or the country. It is because I would like to extend my network! To learn from others’ experiences, to hear and share, to associate one another. I still highly value the real discussion although I am grateful with the online ones. I like to put a face on a name!
On the other hand, I am looking for associations with great supports as what I perceive on the doctor association. It seems like the association always back-up its members. I rarely hear that any doctor put a blame on another doctor. Even if he/she found that the doctor made mistakes or missed things. It seems that they believe that doctors are human beings who can make faults. Seems like they commit on “the agreement” that to treat diseases is another form of art, so that it is not a mathematical thing. Although I heard that there is seniority issue.
In the professional life, we will get more difficult than ever to even contact others, thanks to the workload. It is also geting more difficult to keep in touch. Yet, we need to keep on learning and improve. We need discussions, even in the simplest things. We need to keep updated, open up our mind and broader understanding. Associations would be the answer, rite?
However, we ain’t living in a fairy tale story. Last weeks, I am being more understand that association is not always to associate. The members might not really associate one another. Worst, each member might want to dis-associate one another -trying to be the leader. Politic of interest rules. Envy has replaced solidarity. Save own a** instead of in the name of friendship. Code of conduct has changed to be code of blame. Individuality and egocentrism rule. Just like a competition, am I rite?
Pheeewh… Yes, this is ain’t a fairy tale story.
So, any suggestion on association that I need to join with?

Nice ^^
lah ayo Cill choose the right association for you..I’m not sure..Asosiasi Pemerhati Kebijakan Publik Cil?
lha aku yo mau, tapi golek ning ndi mbaaaaa? hahaha..
emang ada ya?
As it the saying imply “the right association”… so it has to be right.. it has to be of common interest… the competition needs at least a competitor to compete with.. so if you are willing to forfeit any competition, you can associate with anyone… if you can forfeit any of “Politic of interest, Envy, code of blame and ego-centrism”…. you will definitely win the world of friendship and association of any kind….. I have my childhood experience that I associated with my friends to skip my school…… and that friendship lasted till now…. and I have my experience that we fight for our rights in our college with my class mates and that association has made our friendship last like forever……
So, I think you need the “thing” to associate……….
indeed. and i am currently seeking for associations -in the context of profession. as i think, only with good associations, we can always improve ourselves.
