Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight. Here one day. Gone one night [from the song: Gone too soon].
I am not a big fan of him, but I am also not the big hater. I read and heard a lot of news about him, but could not say much about him. I even couldn’t really believe all the accusations that ever made toward him but I also could not say that the entertainment journalists were only focused on capital funds. I could not say anything…
As the child of 80s’, I grow up with his songs. His status as a megastar has been defined during my childhood, when I even didn’t understand that term. I was a nerd as I did not have good access on music. However, I have the Dangerous album and admire the “Heal the World” song. I heard that frequently until the cassette was broken. Years, I tried to find the album but could not find it. It was also because of my uncommitted intention.
And this morning.. The very first thing that I watched was the affirmation about his death. The death of Michael Jackson. For others, today is the King of Pop has died. For me, one of some figures of my life has died. As I mentioned before, I grow up with his songs.
Even when I was a little child, I can understand the spirit of “heal the world”*.
Think about the generation. Says we want to make a better place for children and the children’s children. And so that, they know that there is a better world for them. And think they can make it a better place. [A child in the song of Heal the World by Michael Jackson in the album of Dangerous].
Of course, I did not understand specifically. I did not understand the terrible and horrible impacts of politics. I did not understand the reasons of the wars. I did not understand how many humans have been dictated by numbers.
But…
I understood the concept that there is not any war that can give good impacts. I understood that children are the victims. Above all, I understood that it was a great clip. The clip is so touching. It gives something and not only focused with the singer’s face. I remember how many children in that clip. And when I watched it again, you can see how adults were the ones who created so many problems in this world. How adults forgot the joyous life when they were children.
At certain point, these songs me believe that this world has to be a better place especially for the children. That there should be any discrimination including the ones based on races, skin colors and so many more. I was a little child. I was much more naïve than now. I believe that it can be reached. Well, I still believe that this world should be a better place. But, could it ever be a peaceful place??! Is it possible to abolish discriminations in this earth?
Well, let’s go back to the figure. I respect his ability. He made so many good songs. He hit the charts so many times. Even, until now, the Thriller album is still unbeatable by many singers. Can not imagine how he did that. All that I can say is, he worked so d**n hard!!
This hard work creates empathy on him. I think he was could not really enjoy his life. In details, we can read those songs that written by him. I think he was put so many things in his songs.
Everyone’s taking control of me. Seems that the world’s got a role for me. I am so confused. [from the song: Will you be there for me].
He experienced child abuse when he was a kid. I believe it would be hard for anyone to be that popular in such a young age. He was being a mega superstar while he was only a teenager! I could not imagine myself to bear that such of thing. And it explains why he made the Neverland as he also admitted it. He made it as a compensation of what he never had.
He is lucky [or unlucky?] to has such talents. There are eight other Jacksons, there are other four of Jackson 5. But he is the one who has the ability to be a mega superstar. He has what others do not have. Yet, some of others have what he had not. That’s life…
Talking about all the controversial things, the child molestation cases. I could say more. Yet, I could not understand why he did that [if he did]. As far as I understand, he loves children. He wants to be like them. He wants to enjoy the life, play around. In that case, he is a child in the body of an adult. If you ever watch the 60 minutes interview, he said “jack the ripper” while he was defending his behavior to let children sleep with him. He defended that “only” the pedophiles, jack the ripper and killers who could not sleep with children. He then terminated the interview politely as he hurt with the interviewer’s confrontation questions. In my opinion, he did that in a very polite way.
Regardless he did those molestations or not, the mass medias played their roles. I understand that they need sensational news. And as always, negative information always has higher rates instead of positive. People do gossip! People are not only reading the gossips but also doing and creating the gossips. Although I also could not stand how horrible the gossips might be, occasionally, I also read it. Honestly, it is only because they will help on unimportant chit-chats.
Well, I do not really have other things to say. As I believe many others already published their opinions. So… Last, thank you for giving soundtracks of my life.
Thank you for the valuable lessons that we always have our problems, no matter how much money that we have, no matter how famous we are.
I learn that none of us will be able to have anything that we want to.
I learn that childhood does matter for the future.
I learn that children should pursue what they want instead of fulfilling parents’ unfinished business.
Farewell MJ.
You have your own time now.
You can take a rest, after the devastated years [or life?] that you’ve been through.
You do not have to feel despair in any tribulations.**
You do not have to feel sorrow in any doubts and frustrations. **
And, you can see that so many people love you…
You can see, no matter how terrible they accused and haunted you, they do admire you.
I believe that people will always remember you.
So, have a great “life” there.
Play and dance in the most joyous playground up there.
